Being ‘monstrous’ as a concept#The Minotaur was deemed monstrous because of his appearance. From birth he was sentenced to a life in isolation bc he looks ‘wrong’.#And yet. His father did this!#They are both ‘monsters’. But what makes each a monster differs here#Like yessss bro did kill a bunch of people but they attacked him first -_- he didn’t have a choice or anyone there for him.#Anyways#to be human is to be a monster in one way or another. Wether that be via being ostracized and isolated or by treating others with cruelty#Sometimes there’s overlap. Wow!!!!#So glad my teacher’s chill . The one thing I don't understand about the theory where Piltover and Zaun are teaming up to fight Noxus in the end, is why are Vi and Ekko flying towards Jinx's supposed airship if they're on the same team? Why does Vi NEED to confront Jinx in the middle of a warzone?
We see Ekko in garb that looks like he's on Jinx's side, but we mostly see him with the Firelights in those scenes, and they not decorated in Jinx's colors. Even minor background characters that are on Jinx/Sevika's side have a pink X on the right side of their chest. The Firelights are completely free of any graffiti or markers that would identify them with Jinx, and Vi is in an enforcer uniform. We don't see any other Zaunites in the crowd, but for some reason Vi and Ekko are centering their concentration on Jinx.
I think what's happening is that Ambessa's forces are fighting against Piltover's enforcers, but Jinx isn't helping, she's taking advantage of the chaos. Jinx is probably in Piltover to do something big that Piltover can't defend against since they're preoccupied with Noxus. Jinx will probably think the fight between Noxus and Piltover is the best opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Vi and Ekko will probably object, they'll say her plan goes too far, and it'll get people killed. The whole scenario will probably be a more extreme mirror to whatever the Silco flashback will reveal about what went down on the Day of Ash and why Vander tried to kill Silco, except this time with magic.

i was originally gonna make a joke about how 'even crowley's quote unquote intervention is less violent that sam's (x2). he gets company at least <3' but the differences and similarities within these two dynamics is actually super interesting to watch back to back
#edit: i forgor to add in the 5.14 detox but it's almost not relevant for this post because we don't see sam at all in that scene. lol.#dean uses the word pathetic to describe sam's addiction then sam does the same to crowley :)#the difference in violence and isolation also emphasises the part of the panic room that's supposed to be a punishment as well#even the language used between sam and dean vs dean-sam and crowley is different in tone despite using similar words...#the way they speak to crowley isn't nearly as degrading as the way dean speaks to sam. like higher standards for Sammy as dean's little#brother and a hunter + the disruption of the status quo vs crowley still very much being 'them' within his current circumstance#there aren't really any standards to break or meet etc. beyond what they mean to sam and dean as a temporary ally/extension of themselves#even crowley's environment is less abrasive it's kind of crazy. like yeah crowley's chained to a chair but sam later gets handcuffed to#the bed; crowley doesn't get a bucket or water but he doesnt need to do any of those while that barely meets the needs of a human being#nevermind one going through active drug withdrawal. and then of course is the context of sam's addiction vs the context of crowley's#both in terms of history and current agencies like sam's quote unquote intervention is much more targeted wrt his place within#the familial dynamic‚ hunting‚ and all the other factors that contribute to Sammy's higher standards and its relevance to sam's identity#(regarding the fact that demon blood is invariable to him) definitely heightens the intention and effect of the violence imo#it also also doesn't help that the addictions are framed in vastly different ways in spite of sam's intent#or both sam or crowley's victimisations like sam is being framed as an unknowable potential evil within the discussion with dean about#his addiction through directive choices (namely the red lighting and framing of sam's face through the door) despite all the exploration#we get for sam and exactly this throughout the season while crowley's is framed as a scaling of patriarchal masculinity within which#his addiction is made to make him look Pathetic specifically from the fact that he's 'less' monstrous and part of that is the comedic relie#and to leave crowley in the dungeon is to do the exact same thing they'd done to him for the first half of the season when he wasn't#in active withdrawal. absolutely fascinating quite frankly#9.16#4.20#4.21#adflatus

i stand by the fact that thief (2014) wasn't a very good game but it did have a cutscene in the very last chapter that i keep thinking about. like one of those tiny moments in a game that rewrites your brain. and i can't even describe exactly why, it's such a small moment, but i keep thinking about it.
the only isolated version of it i can find is here, which comes without the subtitles, but what she says is "Everyone said I was bad, that I corrupted the Primal. Well. I'd hate to disappoint."

and i just keep thinking about it. erin, her name's erin btw, has at this point spent a year in captivity, drugged into unconsciousness, tortured, experimented on, while various men in power try to extract this power out of her to use it for their own ends. this thing she does here, we know it happens ambiently to people over time from exposure to her. this is the first and only time we see her actively fuck someone up like this, destroy their mind and body in a way that's almost. casual. with just a touch, moving on past them. and i keep thinking about this moment. about her being told for a year that she's the source of corruption, that without her this power would be pure. useful. about her finally being conscious enough to do something with this thing that's been an excuse to hurt her for months and accepting it as truth that she did corrupt it but that means it's hers to use, now, and hers to destroy people with and hers to protect herself with. "i'd hate to disappoint."
#god its not a good game but something about this scene is stuck in my head#just the easy way she can do it. you know? the ease with which she *does* do it.#the primal is like. vague magical bullshit. it doesn't seem to have any coherent rules.#but most of what she can do is like. blast people with light so hard that it kills them. vanish into light herself.#which sets that power up as the opposite of you. the guy who plays the whole game in the shadows.#so this part of what she can do stands out to me. because when she makes someone into that thing.#those things are blind. they track you by sound. they wander around in the dark. they're *repelled* by light.#and in that way. she's making them into you. into garrett i mean. isn't she. she's making monstrous versions of the man who betrayed her.#she turns everyone around her into the monster that is *you*. in a kinder world your betrayal killed her but that isn't this one.#in this one your betrayal made it so she was too important to die. so no matter how much she's tortured and drugged she *cannot die*.#of course when she thinks of herself as a corruption she surrounds herself with things that act like you.#you did this to her.#anyway i wish this game was better and also gave a shit about her <3#Youtube

Hae-in who becomes distraught when she sees her girl crush(you) hanging out with her boy crush(Jinwoo) and getting closer with each other. She doesn't know if she's jealous of you for being so effortlessly close to Sung Jinwoo or if she's jealous of Jinwoo for being in the same guild as you and thus getting to spend more time with you.

i know morality and c!dream can be a sticky subject especially bc of how like, unreliable this guy is when he talks abt himself, but as much as we repeat lines in daedalus i do think that it's worth remembering that his whole ... "oh evil is in the eye of the beholder" "everyone is the hero in their own story" "they're not excuses theyre reasons" "im evil but the ends justify the means" ETC of it all is like. self protective?
like no, c!dream isn't a character that is all that occupied with morality from the beginning, obviously. but at the same time this is also a character where the crux of the damn matter when c!tommy finally gets through to him is you know, no, dumbass, you aren't Just Irredeemable Evil you're an idiot asshole that chose to do shitty things and there are, in fact, other paths you can choose. this is also a character that has a whole breakdown on his own about the "thin line between good and evil" where he wrestles with his own morality and humanity in comparison to a fucking snake. this is a character that is SO FUCKING BOTHERED by c!sam's like, everything, c!quackity's sadism, c!wilbur confronting him over lmanburg (i'm a tourist. not a terrorist.) (like ,,,)
like no matter how much c!dream tries to beat his conscience into the ground, no matter how much he says that ohhh he's just evil look at his evil lair and evil speeches and evil villain plan to give warning before he attacks and evil giving people primes (what???), no matter how much he repeats the fact that ~the end justifies the means~ and it's all worth it in the end so the middle doesn't actually matter...uh, it kind of does matter to him. c!dream might've always been ruthless and a bit of a jerk and capable of a heck of a lot of damage, but he doesn't go into this on day one thinking that abusing a teenager is A-okay. he doesn't go into the damn end of this thinking that abusing a teenager is A-okay, for fuck's sake. when pushed to the wire all he could say to c!tommy is that he tortured him, because he deserved it, like that's at all about ends justifying means and goals and whatever. like that's not the same thing that his own torturer said to him just weeks ago, in those few minutes before he was sent running.
like yeah, part of this is for show. also the other evil ass guys on this server don't exactly go around adding "evil ___" in front of everything they do, do they? you don't see c!quackity calling his casino "EVIL CASINO !!!" or c!sam calling his bank "EVIL BANK!!!" (c!sam, of course, Isn't A Bad Guy) (well, that whole Thing is also self-protective, but you know) like /?? c!dream is Weird about morality and fixated on the whole evil villain whatever of it all in a way that is just too obvious for him to not care about morality nearly as much as he claims to.
#like we talk a lot about how c!sam kind of just defines goodness with himself as a benchmark and all#he's good and his actions are good because he is good whatever#but c!dream also like. just straight up tacks on 'yeah this is evil because i did it' in ways that kind of exceed just#saying that for show. like on Multiple instances someone has to point out like 'bro that makes no sense'#and he has a little moment where he has to calibrate and be like.yeah well. anyway!#part of what comes with a c!dream that has truly internalized the evil thing and the villain thing and the monster thing#is that he thinks that some of his actions (...if not all of them considering this guy) are evil and villainous and monstrous#and going 'oh im just evil! oh im just a villain!' is literally a means of avoiding confronting that#and avoiding confronting a lot of things is kind of just how c!dream functions until he's physically incapable of running from it all

you know, there has to be something to say about the fact that miranda is the single character with the most fan redesigns and reinterpretations. like i can name like four nonhuman designs off the top of my head (not counting my own) whereas basically every other character has. well none tbh.

i do love canon amy & rory but god, does some part of me wish they really had gone with the idea of the doctor picking up a child as a companion (and then later, that child’s best friend with a huge crush on her.) with the rest of the season really not changing at all, except now it’s amelia pond with an angel in her head killing her and lost alone in the woods. it’s little rory who dies and is forgotten and becomes a toy soldier. if this is going to be a fairy tale, then let it be one. children have never been safe in fairy tales.
